Alot of talk has gone to building bigger and better lids for you tank, but has anyone discovered any way to stop them from jumping in the first place?

Obliviously, don't scare them. I have 9" silver, and when it comes to cleaning the tank, I net my arowana and put it in a bucket. This is nerve racking and I don't think he likes it either.

Has anyone found a technique for keep them in the tank? Light from below? Play heavy metal? Use green light? ....

have appropiately sized tank, have good water quality, dont have equipment that shorts out and put electricity in the water(this was my expierence with saltwater fish atleast)

I would stop netting it aro out when u Clean the tank. It is very stressful for the fish. I you let him move out of the way when u start cleaning it should stay away from u. It is way to stressful for the fish and you'll end up injuring it when u try to get it out whenits bigger. My aro has learned to trust me and rarely jumps and never has when I was cleaning the tank. Just give him time

silvers jump when ever and there probly is no sure way from stopping them from jumping but you can take all precautions to keeping them in the tank. them will knock open lids move covers and so on....i recently lost a 20+ aro

and pretty soon u would find netting a 20+ aro would be difficult just to clean your tank not touching them keeps them less skittish

When I do water changes on my 20" aro's tank I actually have to push it out of the way so I can pour the water in. Just leave it in the tank so it can get used to the activities that go on during a water change and it won't be quite as jumpy when it's bigger when u do the changes

I skimmed it i thought you said you net it after it jumps out lol.

no man leave it in the tank when doing the wc. no wonder its looking stressed.

Actually I do, but a towel works better for getting it in. He's made it out a few times. Once he jump out and knocked someone in the chest.

Other then hands in the tank, he's in calm. But I should wish there was some sort of aro stun ray.

i don't stick my hand in my 18in arowans tank. lately he has tried to bit me. so instead i let the filter clean the tank and i once in a while pump the waste and slide special magnet that has a clouth on both sides

aso dont put tankmates that might attack it or bump into it that may cause it too jump
