I'm like your grandma - you can bring anything you want into my house except for a roach. I HATE them. Even if they didn't escape, just knowing about them or having to do maintenance for them would be bad enough for me.

Have you tried meal worm they do smell a bit the adult beetles do go fly about from time to time but are easy to catch

Meal worms are high in fat. They're not meant for a staple diet.

Why not just buy the crickets in bulk 500-1000 at a time ? Much cheaper and easier than worring about breeding.
