Pros and cons of raising crickets vs buying them every time?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
except keeping that many alive would be hard for me... and they don't carry that many at one time and they won't custom order for customers and the shipping alone would be more than the actual crickets to order online.

Keeping them alive is nothing compared to trying to breed them. You give them water/ water crystal and food. Very simple.

The shipping is really not that bad when you figure what you are spending buying them daily/ weekly at a pet store. Not to mention the endless trips to the store.

Depending on how many whites you plan on getting, buying crickets from a pet store is going to get expensive quick.

Why not just buy the crickets in bulk 500-1000 at a time ? Much cheaper and easier than worring about breeding.

^^x2

i used to breed crickets. key word. used to. its got to be the worst thing i have ever tried to do. and all of the work had a ****ty reward. not to mention the damn smell!

either buy them online(it seems more expensive than it is.) i used to keep 2,000 in a 10-20 gallon tank with lots of eggcrate to them to hide in. wokred alright.

then i discovered roaches and let me tell you i will NEVER go back to crickets! when i was looking at them my grandmother was completely against them as well. that is until i told her all of the good things about the roaches.

crickets will climb and get out then you will never see them again.

Dubai roaches do not CLIMB, FLY, OR MAKE NOISE. they are also very very clean. i started with 125 of them in a 10 gallon tank, after a few months i moved them to a 30 gallon. people had no idea i was keeping them. there is zero smell. and they basically clean up after themselves all you have to clean out is the occasional dead roach and there little poop pellets.

just present your facts and she might come around
