Looks like I saw two varieties of red rainbowsI caught the rainbows in the act of spawning!
My no name rainbow is a female and the one I saw release eggs that my male red was fertilizing.
It is so interesting. Both them and the danios prefer to spawn right by the overflow. I saw eggs get sucked into the overflow. I can’t see them in the sump, but they end up somewhere between the intake and the first chamber of the sump.
Here are some eggs that stuck to my magnet.

I know this doesn’t guarantee the fry I currently have are rainbows, up id say the chances are really good!
I’ll be watching for the next round to hatch.
Could it be striped or Murray river? To many rainbows! No, just one kind. Both are Irian‘s. The one must be a female. It has been getting chased too. I just haven’t seen it release eggs.
Any idea what kind this rainbow is?

Not all males get the humpy head. My guys has grown a bit this month. His favorite girl is holding out on him and driving him crazy.
The top was taken a couple days ago and the bottom was taken in November.

When I first saw cichlids with humpy heads(flowerhorns mostly) I thought it looked weird. Now I’m rather fond of them. Lol
