This little boy and girl (about 5" each) were attempting to breed, and are now separated with a divider in my 75, due to the orange male finding his inner Ike Turner. One of their siblings is in my 125 with the other big boys and holding his own so far... I really hope the girl stays with the barred look, kinda cool, but way too soon to tell.

These are all from a group of 6 juvies I bought from Ken Davis.

Here is one I used to own, but had to get rid of. "Klaus" was just a complete b@st@rd, jumping out of the tank to attack me rather than eat. He actually was scaring me at 5". Yeah I should have kept him, fantastic snow white and blood red coloration. This is an aquarium strain that most larger PetSmarts used to stock, haven't looked lately to see if they still do.

love the white one!! i kinda want one like that but mines like greenterras, only miniature. and the barred one i think it will lose its color but im almost thinking it could be a hybrid?? anyone else have any suggestions? either way its cool:)

What are you talking about? The barred midas seems short bodied but I think its just the angle the picture was taken at. Not going to lose its bars if its already that big. They usually peel under 3" if they're going to peel.

and Don the fx5's run around $200-300 a piece.

this is the best place I've found to buy them so far, http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-400-GAL-HAGEN-FLUVAL-FX5-AQUARIUM-CANISTER-FILTER_W0QQitemZ180283214215QQihZ008QQcategoryZ46310QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
he has a few auctions for them going to that you might be able to snag one for a few bucks cheaper.

its only 25miles away from me but he charges $20 for pickup anyways. I can get them for $180 if I pick them up which I've been debating for a while. I could use a few car parts first though lol.
damn thats steep, but im gonna have to do something, i cant find a big enough storage tub to make my own wet/dry.

great fish walkin^^ any more pictures of that barred guy? Might just be the angle hes at but he seems to be shaped quite interesting. Never saw devils like that at petsmart either. I've never even seen devils there. All I've seen is "midas."
Thanks, Cam. BTW it's Wakin, no "L" (Japanese for "goldfish") heh. Here's some more of "Barlinda", these were mostly to get pix of her breeding tube for another forum, and she confirmed her femaleness by laying eggs. Unfortunately, dum-dum male ate them as fast as they came out :(. Her shape looks average Midas to me - she produced a moderate she-hump as she got interested in breeding and assumed a dominant role in the group. I'll get some updated pix when she changes significantly. One of her sibs changed color almost overnight.

The red/white fish was sold as a Midas, but most people agree, and have confirmed with PetSmart employees, that the same stock goes in both the Midas and RD tanks. Shoulda kept that psycho fish, dangit. He was going to be a stunner.

Most of my midas are pure orange, but almost all the devils I see end up with a ton of splotches/more creamsickle pattern.

The fx5's are totally worth it, I'm going to buy one after I start my new job so I don't have to siphon poop out of my tanks everyday.

I used to have 4 of the red & white petsmart RD/Midas. They were great, but I sold them to make room for some F1 orange & white midas off AB, which sucks, cause as it turns out I only ended up switching out a batch of awesome rd/midas for a batch of mediocre ones.

:(
Not quite sure what to do with him/her. More of the white is coming in so I don't know. I'll give it a few more inches I guess. I'll keep it if it turns out really nice.

On the upside I've still got my F1 barred & PB midas.
