Here are some nice fuzzy pics of my new guy, before he healed up. He's about 8". I think he looks to be pure midas, but I'll never know. I just moved him into his own 125 a couple of days ago, and he seems to be loving life.

I see more labiatus in him than citrinellum...regardless he is a stunner...I love the pattern :)

Thanks Red Devil. I planned on dividing the 125 and giving him half, but he just looks too happy as he is. The LFS I got him from had him in a 125 that was PACKED full of decorations and large fish, including a 12"+ buttikoferi and three large pacu. From there he went into my 55 for two weeks of acclimating and healing. Now he seems very pleased with things.

Adam, I would certainly hope you'd stop by to see him next time you're down. Congrats on the zonatum, by the way.

Jason_S, what makes you think labiatus?

Great thread, Liz.

All round good viewing and reading. Compliment's to you all.

Here's the male i've been keeping, going on three year's. There's a female in the same tank. She's probably pushing 2 year's now.

No fry. Whenever he's had access to her egg's, he has eaten them.

He is extremely rough on her, and she is quite a bit smaller than he, so they are generally divided. Though she appears to be going through a growth spirt, so i may allow access again in a few months.

Hey everyone!

This is my first post on MFK and this site has really helped me out with my new hobby.

I recently setup a 210 Gallon tank which includes this beautiful specimen. Not too sure if he is a Devil or Midas.

In the past week he has really thickened up and gained a solid nuchal hump as well.

He is also the biggest hog during dinner time and will swarm an easy 10 pellets before one even hits the ground.

I love this fish because he always seems hungry and will move my gravel around in search of food. I recently added a male green terror and one night after dinner my terror saw my devil/midas moving gravel in search of food and now my terror does it. It is so funny watching them pick up these huge rocks in search of food. I have large substrate and they can barely muster moving one rock at a time a few inches but it is hilarious.

I guess they will be re-arranging "their" tank often.

I will post up some recent pictures (2 weeks later and 3.5") to show the hump growth and extreme character this fish is already showing. Clearly one of my favorites thus far!
