you talking about rock bass, not red eye bass like the OP asked about :screwy:
They are the same species, some people call them redeye some happen to call them rock.
Same difference.:D

nope dude sorry you are not correct red eye bass is a real black bass species, not a rock bass they are two totally different things. Now the OP may be reffering to rock bass as red eye bass but iam not forsure cuz he hasnt wrote in here in a while. But to use rock bass as red eye bass just confuse people so lets use species by there name. Rock bass=rock bass and red eye bass =red eye bass. And lets not mix them up :headbang2better yet we can refer to them by there scientific name

From the sound of it I think he means rupestris. Nobody calls red eye a black bass here in pa. If people say black bass I just assume crappie, but I don't know where you are located or what slang fisherman use in your area. We call rupstris redeye or rock bass. If you want to get scientific about it thats fine, seeings how I have never heard of a rupestris called black bass. The slang your using is confusing me!
Rupestris have a redeye do they not??? Black bass....and scientific name for the fish you are describing is???
I think your making it more complicated than it needs to be.

lol you confuse me a redeye bass is this "Micropterus coosae" google it is a black bass ( Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, etc. but not crappie).

I forgot about that species as I am from the north, never seen or caught one actually. ever.hahaha You are right, I am from the Great Lakes area those arn't around me.
Maybe the original poster will come back on here and specify???
People call the rockbass redeye bass here, most likely because the m. coosae is not local to the area. Thanks for pointing that out. Looks kind of like our smallmouth only smaller and with a redeye, pretty neat looking bass though. Freaking slang names. Black Bass is a slang name for crappie here as well, stupid I know. I didn't make up these slang terms. hahaha We should go scientific more. Less confusing in the long run I sappose.

iam from michigan by the great lakes the only reason i know of the red eye bass is cuz iam a fisherman and want to catch 1 of every member of the black basses

Ok lets called it Coosa bass instead of redeye bass.

ROCK BASS=ROCK BASS
RED EYE BASS= wat i would also call a rock bass
BLACK BASS=LMB IN PLACES LIKE CALI
CRAPPIE-CALICO BASS=BLACK CRAPPIE

THATS JUST WAT I THOUGHT TO BE RITE

Warmouth and green sunfish can be called red eye bass or google eye bass...these names are just slangs that fisherman used.
