Black bass is the common names typically associated with sunfishes of the genus Micropterus due to the black coloration exhibited by the juveniles of some species. I've never heard of crappie called black bass but I have heard them called calico bass before.
I have also heard Ambloplites rupestris called redeye bass by some but generally redeye is the common name associated with Micropterus coosae.

Actually MST is right, there are no hatchery sell redeye bass. They have to be wild caught ones.

Yup, that fish has some red in its eye, however as Sandtiger stated Micropterus Coosae , Also known as Shoal Bass, Coosa Bass is the actual Red-Eye Bass and is found mainly if not completely in the SouthEastern U.S.
