Hi all I was wondering what people's experiences with these are what they like with tank mates and what size they get to,been told they max out around a foot? Also how easy to wean off of live? Thanks in advance Paul
 
I have a red tail payara..?? Not sure if that is what yours is sold as? Mine is 8-9 inches now and only eats Rosie feeders. Can't get it to eat anything else after 3 months

I have a group of them. Can't speculate on max size, haven't had them long. Not entirely on pellets/cut fish but getting closer. One of the harder fish I've tried breaking off live.

Seem to me rather delicate. Would choose tank mates wisely. Could see where they may be better in groups. Not real timid, always out in the open.

Very impressive hunters. Hard to see them hit feeders as they are wicked fast.

VERY under rated fish in my opinion.......
 
I have 2 red tails and 1 yellow tail, and I love these toothy little guys. They were harder to break off of live than my ATF was, but worth it. I got the red tails first, and almost had a nervous breakdown trying to get them off live. HERE is the thread I had on the process. It was similar with the yellow tail, but it's all worked out now.

Great fish, and you get all the toothy awesomeness without the need for a 900 gallon aquarium!
 
Those are cool. How big do they get?
