Red tail barracuda

Are they the same or belong to the same family as Red Tail Chalsea?

PTC? (Pink Tailed Chelceus)

They're both Characins, but I think that's where the similarities end........

Cuda are open water preds with crazy teeth for their size (fish eaters). I think PTC have lil teeth (omnivores), hide in overhangs towards the top water.

i was reading up on these the otherday then came arcoss this, supposedly a red tail... defo looks over 12 inch?

Sure it's not a yellow tail? They're supposed to have the potential to get quite a bit bigger.....

OR could just be the camera angle...... The Panteneiros do have a pretty thick build to them. Supposed to be quite a bit more robust then typical red tailed Cudas....

Def just the angle of the camera that hold the fish right up to it and make it look bigger, my friends play a game were we take a pic like that and we guess how big the fish REALLY is lol

Yellow tails do get bigger but slender. Pantaniero do get much more thicker than falcatus but similar to Altus which are thicker than falcatus. Great fish my friend grew a scomb and a pantaniero together.... Scomb is on pellets and the Cuda is still on live lol fairly hard to get off live I think

This might make it easier - what do you plan to house with it????

Hi at the moment I have a synodontis decorus and a bristlenose cat I was thinking a couple more cats silver dollars and maybe a red wolf and/or pink tail chalceus?

So what size of tank do you guys think I would need? I have a 60"x20"x30" if not no worries I will look at something else

Not sure why that wouldn't work. They don't seem as spastic and darty as I had guessed them to be. Plus the common red tailed Cudas are supposed to stay a bit smaller then the Panara ones.

I'd do it!!! :)
