Red tail catfish are jerks

I have a red tail catfish and I had him for about a month he is about 16 inches long and ate 150 bucks in food already including accidental food as in 3 Oscars and a 6 inch Arowana.....what can I have as a tank mate with him that will hold their own?

Sticking fish that small in with a redtail that size will end the same way every time. Try some bigger fish that won't fit in its mouth.

Welcome to the forum.

You can only blame yourself for giving him the opportunity of eating tankmates. You can keep almost anything with him that doesn't fit in his mouth, is docile, and has a fast growth rate. Another choice would be something considerably bigger than him and docile.

Good luck finding something that can keep pace with an RTC's growth rate. If you find something besides a pacu, let us know.

can't blame the apex predator in the tank lol.

That'd be like me blaming my delhezi poly for eating one of my just purchased odoe pikes...to him it was $50 sushi and my fault
