Any snake you choose to get, dont forget its not a dog and wont listen to your commands. I was petting my "tame" 7+ foot female red tail in her cage and watched her turn around and bam grab my hand and throw a couple coils around in about 1 second. took about 2 min to get her teeth out then unwrap her and i stil have atleaste two teeth in two different knuckles that have scarred over. just be smart.

Well do you want a big long snake. Or a big , longer snake.

My friend has a 5 yro Burmese that is 13 ft and feeds on live rabbits. Nice snake though. I hear they have better temper.

Neither has a better temper than the other, genetically.

Both species need to be handled OFTEN, from a very young age.

You guys know me...I'm strictly a Retic guy, 19 or them currently...everything from decent morphs to $10,000 morphs. A Retic is a Retic is a Retic...they're not a beginner snake.

They're faster, smarter, stronger, more inquisitive, more challenging and more hands on than any Burm. I can take my 10' albino Burm and lay him in the living room floor. 30 minutes later, he's in the exact same spot. I take my 14' female Jampea Retic and put her on the living room floor...in about 30 seconds, she's on the opposite end of the house, climbing on top of the fridge.

If you want to start with a Retic, I can put you in touch with some reptuable breeders, for a Super Dwarf or even a Dwarf variety. My 2007 male Dwarf Purple is only 10' long and my 2003 Super Dwarf female is only 5' long.

where, if you dont want it tell me

Dont hasilty buy what someone is telling you is a "super dwarf", just because of the price.

Alot of guys are breeding Jampea blood to Jampea blood and calling them "Super Dwarf" and it's just not true.

A guy I know has multiple Jampea "Dwarf" Retics that are 16' long. That, to me, is sure as hell not a "dwarf".

If the breeder can't verify that said Super Dwarf is AT LEAST 50% Super Dwarf, don't bother buying it...you'll still end up with a 14' long snake on your hands.

Anything you see that's labeled at Dwarf Tiger, Dwarf this, Dwarf that...they're meaning that whatever morph was bred to a Jampea. It'll still reach 12' or more.

My 2003 Super Dwarf female I was talking about...she's 100% pure Super Dwarf. Her parents were a WC 100% Super Dwarf x WC 100% Super Dwarf. If I breed her to say my Golden Child Tiger, the offspring will be 50% Super Dwarf Golden Child Tigers (which would be a ****in' sweet pairing, might I add, since it's never been done LOL)...the 100% SD to what's considered a mainland Retic would result in a "half dwarf". If I then take one of those offspring and breed it back to the mother, the result will be 75% Super Dwarf...so and so forth.

If a breeder can't back up his claims of "Super Dwarf" with paperwork, having the parents on premises, etc. then stay away from them.

These super dwarfs seem to be pretty legit; they're from a reasonably well-known breeder. I do not know if paperwork is available, but what's $300 if it turns out to be just a dwarf or between a dwarf and super dwarf in size?

Here's the link. They have multiples, so no worries on not getting one.

I may actually go this route if I can get the enclosure built before they sell out; after some consideration, I would rather deal with a smaller version of the giants (retics and burms) before moving on to the full-size ones.

Garrick DeMeyer is one of the foremost breeders of Super Dwarves. I would not hesitate to buy from him.
