I dont hate slate but I had a bad experience with slate, took all the right precautions before putting it in, boiled, soaked, all that good stuff and after 2 days or so after introducing the rock I woke up the next morning to 90% of my fish dead.

texas holey rock this isnt my tank but an excellent example
I do Like this rock but I want something darker, I have white'ish sand and I want to darken up the fish's colors so I thought some dark rocks and a black background would be a nice contrast, and Still bring out there colors.

Yeaaaaaa I think Im going to go with the lace rock, looks great but even better, it stacks great and provides alot of hiding spaces, soooo unless someone throws a better idea at me, I think thats what im going with. if anyone cares lol

Good choice!

I really wanted o do lace rock but it's almost $3 a pound around here :/

its the same out here also, and to fill a 125, I dont even want to think about how much im about to drop, but it is what it is ya know. plus I have a few leads on craigslist people selling 30lbs here 40lbs there, eh it should save a few bucks.

Go to your local landscape supply store for rock. They usually sell it by the pound and have a lot of different colors to choose from. I use a purplish granite and grey quartzite. Granite comes in a lot of colors. Quartzite shimmers and has a cool effect when light is bounced off it. Bluestone is another other. Full colored bluestone comes in shades of green and brown as opposed to the 'select bluestone' which is pale blue. Sandstone is a light brown but a nice looking stone. Flagstone is usually availible but I find it very cheap looking. It also tends to be very sharp when it breaks, which is often. Flagstone is brittle!
