Rock options for african cichlid tank

I agree with the white sand and the holey rock white washing the fish but i used a black background and my tank was planted with low light plants plus i had triple bulb lights so i still had alot of color but lace rock is probably your best bet for the darker colored rock

I love the look of quartz. I have some super chunks that I have been trying to clean cut with a chisel, but never seem to get that clean cut I am looking for and don't like "sharp" edges.

Candycane slate also looks awsome but is also like $3 a pound!

Check out your local landscape supply company. They will have tons of stuff to choose from. There are some cool bluestone variations out there. It comes in a "tumbled" form so it wont have any sharp edges. Granite comes in a lot of colors. I used granite and quartize in my tank.

here's how I did my 90. The rocks are flagstone from a landscaping store. 130lbs for around $40

that flagstone looks cool,

Well thanks for all your suggestions and tank shots they all look great, Ive wrote down most of the different option and went to my lfs (all of them) and found out that they have horrible selections. So I called whatever landscaping rock suppliers I could find only to get turned down unless I bought bulk. So out of the selection available at my local shop (coral, river rock, lava rock and lace rock) I choose the lace rock. heres a few shots of my 125 with juvenile africans with all the lace rock my budget will allow me to buy at that moment, about 65 lbs

slowly but surely I will be loading this 125 up.!!!
