Little pieces of fish such as bits of piranha, tilapia etc is good, cut pieces that are bite size and feed 2 or three of these chunks per feedingYeah, I've heard it.
Another doubt I have about the rope fish feeding is how much do they eat.
As I said, its about 11" long..
I was thinking in the amount and maybe a piece of tilapia the size of a sinking pellet, cuted in very small pieces its ok.

Congrats with the ropefish, never had one cause they are more scape artist than a bichir, im afraid they will scape in my tank.
Just follow all the great pointers that everyone gave you and you’ll be fine.
I can't think of anyone on MFK that keeps an adult ornate with ropes... where have you seen that? It will be fine for a while at these sizes, and miiight be OK long term but it is a big risk. Ropes are skinny and can be a tempting shape to a
Ropes can be pickier to eat pellets than other polys in my experience. I would only feed once per day (or many feed adults every other day) and try soaking the pellets you like in a bit of thawing bloodworm juice to make them more appealing at first. I personally would get them on pellets first before adding tilapia or other meaty foods like earthworms into the mix. Once they start eating them you're good to go. I find that mine always liked them a little softer, so I always soaked my pellets for just a few minutes in tank water before putting them in the tank.
Your fish will be happy to get their upgrade!
