Royal pleco eyes sinking in...

Sunken eyes in royal species are caused 90% of the time by poor water conditions. A large (75%) water change may have saved its life. I have seen a royal have eyes so sunken I thought they were gone to over night in good water look perfectly normal the next day.

I can't imagine a 20% change weekly with two fx5s which I clean one every two to three weeks was not enough on a 125 gallon. That's what is confusing me. I have other fish in there that I've never had a problem with. The only fish I have ever died in my fish tank that did not relate to being beat on have been my two royals. I bought a new one and have been feeding cucumber and three different types of algae wafers on top of the wood. Hopefully it works out.

I deworm every royal I purchase in a qt tank...they stay in there for up to two weeks...they are fed a diet of carrots, Malaysian dw, NLS,yams..cukes and zukes not enough fiber nor vits.. I have over 5 now, all healthy an fat ......my pleco tanks receive a weekly 50% WC of aged , filtered , temp controlled water..btw feeding carrots and yams it makes it easier to gravel vac as the pleco's waste is orange..
Side note on Malaysian dw my big plecos are like miniature sawmills. They tear it up..
