Ya I saw on the local classifieds a 1500 gallon tank listed for $1K, Dial faster phone dial faster, hello saw your add and wanted to get some info on your tank as I am very interested in it. What are the dimensions of the tank? Well it has a steel stand (check steel stand heavy tank , Good) and the stand is about 3 feet tall, the tank is about 5 to 6 feet tall, (sweet a tall tank but I want floor space for the rays, but like tall tanks allot) how deep is the tank front to back? I would say it’s about 5 feet front to back (wow 5 feet that’s amazing and perfect) How long is the tank? It’s about 12 feet it fit into my friends truck with the tail gate down. (hum) So was this an 8 foot long bed truck or short bed truck? Long bed and it then sat on the tail gate (ten , great) (started to calculate in my brain about the gallons of the tank) What material is it made from acrylic or glass? its made from very thick glass (GLASS heavy as hell but thick glass means large as he says) the real question to learn all, What thickness is the glass? I would say the glass is about 6inches thick. (What the Hell, BS) So I ask again the glass is 6 inches thick? Ya its about 6 inches thick. (ya right, ok something is off here or this thing will weight 5000 lbs) Then the sad part, I have a 55 gallon tank I can include as a sump for the tank. (Warning, warning) But still who knows. Well when can I come see it? Tomorrow would work its at a storage unit as I could not fit it into my house, I had it setup before in my apartment. (ahh can’t fit in house but can fit in an apartment?? ODD) So during lunch I drive out there and what did I find, a tank that is 8 feet long, 2 feet front to back and 30 inches tall, 300 gallon tall, was drilled like 8 times in the bottom and now are all covered over and the whole thing was re silicone and done very very badly. And had a few chips in it as well, I said well that’s a 300 gallon tank and he said ohh no a salt water guy was just here and said it was about a 540 gallon tank, sorry to say but he was wrong it is 300 gallons. I only wanted something bigger and not something in such bad shape, Well someone took it home from that guy and then when he got home saw really how bad it is and is not asking 600.00 for it but at least he knows its 300 gallons, probably because the old seller told him that I said what it was. lol Sad adventure of a possible really large tank.
LOL I have had this exact conversation! It's funny too because we are not normal. What I mean is when normal people say "huge" they mean a 125 or so. When I say huge it's 900+
A big pet peeve for me is when the tanks dimensions include the the stand. Me: " So your saying the tank is 5' tall and 6' wide? wow, what's the stand made out of ?" "wood?" "How tall is the stand, 3 feet, wow, how do you reach the top of the tank to feed the fish?" Ahhhhhhhh the stand is part of the 5 feet tall part.......

When I found this tank for $1000 I was very unsure but I drove over to the guys house with 2 full sized trucks and 4 guys lol. The tank went in one truck the stand in the other. Counted out $1000 and rolled. I still can't believe I have this tank LOL

Good times fish tank hunting, that's always the other part, if you do find a tank you have to find help to load it up.

I received a couple request to update my Black Arowana. I figured I would put it in this thread. I got him 4 years ago at about 8" and it's easily 30 inches now.

Enjoy....
Very nice, your aro is definetly a beast:thumbsup:
