I really like how you filled the void at the bottom. Nice job. The tank looks great, congrats! I am IN LOVE with those backgrounds...

Thanks! Yeah, it worked out great. I like the modular concept. Hopefully there will be more choices of backgrounds in the future.

Yeah I hope they catch on, get more options and lower the prices a little. I have thought in the past they should make modular wood as well. I bet it would be a good revenue stream for them because allot of us acrylic owners can't buy large pieces of wood because of the small access holes on top. Pieces you could assemble inside the tank would work and there would not be any boiling or leaching tannins.

On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate instilation difficulty? Seems way easier than making your own.

Good question, 10 being very difficult I would say this was a 3 for instillation difficulty. The only reason was the modular panels were only 22" high and I needed something closer to 30" so I had to build up the bottom 5" with Styrofoam. The panels are $45 each and it's worth it! I hope some different themes come out, Amazon Jungle, African rock, and so on................

The panels fit through the opening in my acrylic tank easy and a taller panel would of fit also. It would be nice if they sold taller panels and scored the back for different tank depths. So your tank is 22" you just snap off at this line and ya got a 22 inch panel.

I needed 5 panels for my job. I used 1 tube of Silicon for each panel. I know, that's over kill but I didn't want the panel to float to the surface and they seem to be very buoyant. I started on one side and glued up a panel and stuck it to the back of the tank. Then added the next three panels the same way, no hurry because this amount of glue was going to take days to dry. The last panel I cut to fit by scoring the back and snapping the panel. I made this a very tight fit and sort of compressed all the other joints in the system. Then I added the two rock pieces to give the background some depth. I held these in place with PVC pipe and squeezed the hole contraption to the back of the tank and let dry for three days. I've had water in the tank for 24 hours and so far nothing has pulled away from the back of the tank

I added a simple utility drain. You know how it is when you just want to drain a filter or suck the bottom 1" of water/poop from the bottom of the sump???
This is a picture of the utility drain with a cap. I just unscrew the cap and run my tubing in there and everything drains to the yard.

That is actually a very good idea, most tank heights are common. You should recommend that to them along with my wood idea. I wanted one of these for when I set up the 225g but the 30" height in my tank made me not want to get it. Seeing yours make me wish I had...

My next tank is 44" deep. I'm not sure how I'm going to set up the background. I may be able to double stack these 22" panels but the seam would be right in the middle of the viewing area. Most likely it will be 100% DIY.
