Smallmouth Bass Fry Care

Ok, so I'll try live brine shrimp or blood worms, then attempt to wean them onto flake food. Would just collecting pond water at this point work for small food since there should be some small critters they can eat in it? I don't know if could ship them if anyone wanted some, but I could try if anyone can point me in the right direction.

most likly would take permits and stuff to ship, plus i dont think your aloud to keep small gamefish like that even if there from your pond . But Iam not from your state and to lazy to look at your rules . I dont think you can get enough food for them by just putting water in from your pond your best of to go buy a thing of frozen brineshrimp

Ok, I'll get the shrimp to feed them. I'm pretty sure I can keep them since I can legally keep the adults in my pond, and those adults spawned in my pond so that technically would be spawning in captivity, right? I have no idea on shipping, so more research will be necessary on my part.

If you own the pond your good as far as keeping them. I don't know about shipping however. And yes you need to change the water. I would say small daily changes are better.

Well, I've gotten them to eat small red worms and crushed fish food pellets, so I should be able to get them over to commercial food.

The fry have turned clear now; what does this indicate? They were clear when I caught them, then they turned black during the day and turned clear at night, and now they are clear again.

The majority of the fry turned black again. I'm down to about 50; some died because they wouldn't eat, a few were cannibalized, some were eaten by the darters, and some were weak swimmers and got sucked in the filter pump even though I have it set for a 1 gallon aquarium yet I have about 9 gallons of water in their aquarium.

Some of my smallmouth bass fry have begun to die for no aparant reason. They turn clear, have trouble swimming, and eventually end up sinking to the bottom to die. I watched 5 die in a span of about 10 minutes. The other fry are the usual black color and can swim just fine. What could be causing this?
