Nice:)

Lou, here we go, this is not the exact way I did it yesterday but the principal and the same tools were used and it will give you a good starting point for the future.

Firstly I use 2 monitors on my main rig which helps a lot for this sort of thing as you can have two different pictures on the two screens but for this I've compressed it on to one screen.
The clone stamp tool has is highlighted in red and enlarged a bit.

The source picture is now selected and the clone stamp tool selected, hold ALT down and click on the source picture. The cursor will change as shown when ALT is pressed.

You can now release the alt key and from now on where ever you paint will be a clone of that area on that picture. I tried to get a shot of the next bit but I couldn't capture the screen whilst painting.
Select the cat picture and paint the source picture over the area you want to cover up. If the colours aren't right then you can re-select for example a darker area on the source again by holding down ALT.

Clone stamp is very useful for touching up photos, and having a play around;):

If you need more info, feel free to ask:)

Thank you for this :) Well, I knew how to use the clone tool but what's fantastic is how YOU have used it. The moss has blended perfectly with the cats picture and seems to have always been on that rock... that's quite impressive. :)

So I guess it's not the tool but the hand that wields it... ;)

wonderful crystal clear pictures..i almost felt like i was there!:D

When I did it, I masked out the dark bits of the rock on one layer and the light bits on another so I could only paste on to those parts of the rock to match up with the source image, that's what took the time up, the extra cat was just for fun;)

Masking... hmmm... I need to get back to my Photoshop CS3 e-books! :)

Creating the layer masks is the hard part using them takes no time at all, the appearance of the third cat was cloned and touched up with the clone stamp. To do it properly would mean using the channels palette and various burn/dodging to mask it out takes a long time but is worth it for the effect as there are far to many colours going on just to use the wand;)

I'll try and write something up for you but it will take some time:)
