South & Central american cichlids VS African cichlids

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have been keeping SA/CA cichlids for over 20 years, I did a n african tank for a change and dismantled it after a year, That tank to me was awesome on first sight but eventually got borring, as the seems just to swim aimlessly around the tank.

Heres a photo of that tank

Oh, im sorry thats not ur tank. So once again, american all day!!!

I'll stick to the SA/CA theme as well. Africans have some great color, but then what? The tank dynamics of a good New World Cichlid tank is very entertaining.

Give me personality over looks... err at least when it comes to fish. ;)

There are some great looking and colorful NWC's out there of course.

i keep both. i have a tank that is mostly african haps and peacocks, then i have a discus with dwarf cichlids, and 2 tanks with a mixture of big SA/CA and african haps. but i have some SA/CA that have great color(true red terror, Nic, Moto, cuban, etc.) and enjoy watching them much more then my africans. i say go new world all the way.

i would go with dwarf SA/CA... i did africans also for a few yrs and got bored also-i missed the character and beauty of the sa/ca's and went back to them.

Thanks guys, i have decided and i am going with AMERICANS! my tank dimensions are 48x19x31, any recommendations?
