I'm so excited to see the out come of this. I have been planning on bilding a 6x4 tank for awhile now. I have just thought of something. When you're installing your overflows you mentioned that you were just gonna cut a hole in the liner, stick the overflow through then seal around the area. Are you not afraid that since your overflow is not connected to anything but your liner, it might move alot? Therefor breaking the seal?

Good luck

you can glue the pipe to the wood also.
in my last pic
i put liquid nail in the hole in the wood then put the pipe in,so the pipe is glued to the pond for good.
in that pic,the elbow isnt glued tho, thats how i can remove stuff.
i have a cool idea kickin,will show it in a bit ;)

would you guys be able to get a bulkhead fiting with the threaded section long enough to go trough your desired wall and still be able to take 2 nuts??

because if you can tighten it with the nut on the outside of the pond you would not disturb the liner ....imo this could make a good seal

this is what im thinking.
box filter made just like the pond like i said before.
the opening might be wider.
and i might notch the next piece an inch or 2 "that will be the water line"
there will be a piece of plywood sticking out so the water goes in the filter further.
i will notch the filter top like this also and fold the liners over the notch.
do you get my idea? the wood is just sitting there.

oh and i would put some type of screening over that gap so the fishys dont go in the filter.

8'X4' gotcha! i too am also lazy! lol

i might have to try this design.put a trough inmy basement next time i get some $$$. this is (despite all the techno mumbo jumbo) one of the simplest designs for a pond i've ever seen.
for the trough (just thought of this) build long low box to house system of canister filters w/flapdoor to access. and then build just like your's.
is soo beautifully simple!!!!

you guys better stop me before i re invent the wheel  just kidding :screwy:
ok so heres a filter "like" the one im thinking
http://images.google.com/imgres?img...filter&svnum=10&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us
and heres a great pic of my filter idea :screwy:

blue-pond overflow like in last pic i posted
green-water lettuce i think it is
brown-felt sheets and filter matting
grey-sponges
yellow-scrubbies
red-some type of rock like they did in the link above
black-pumps

brown, grey and yellow i have an idea.
use window screen to make big pouches "kinda like huge hob filters".
they would be 4'x2' to fit my filter.
glue or sew up all but one side "or all" stuffed with each media.
"this is to make removal and cleaning easier"

not sure how i would make the "pouches" stay in place.
