Last night I was watching my cichlids as they were eating and my electric blue johanni stated to 'vibrate' or shake his whole body. Theres no females in there of his speicies so theres no one around to show off too. Anyone experience this before?

He may have been showing off for a female of a different species or just trying to show another fish that he is more dominant.

My male Dovii is in a 125 gal alone and he goes through all the mating\dominance behavior. He will shake his head all the time.....he does dry runs as if he is fertilizing eggs.......he has several spots dug out where he does these dry runs also he will do them to the rocks and driftwood......he also loves to fly around the tank flaring and doing the body whip at his reflection. It's pretty funny to watch. Also he does this way more than my breeding pair of Jags.....entertaining fish to own and he is only a little over 6".

My johanni does this and he is the only Jo I have in the tank...I think he is trying to establish dominance also. The other males (Africans, five others, differant spec.) they used to chase this Jo around but after he started to shake and move tons of sand, they all leave him alone now. Now he chases the others out of his territory.

hes got alot of work to do if he wants to impress the other cichlids, hes the smallest besides the kribs haha

The shaking thing isn't unusual. I've seen that a lot, mostly from some of my peacocks.

For what they lack in size they have a lot of attitude.
