Thanks for the replies everyone! Definitely getting a severum and quite possibly a bichir.
Two questions: are severums better off with more than one or will they be fine on their own? And are bichirs picky eaters? I've heard that before.

Thanks

I apologize for the continuous posts but if I were to get a bichir, which one do you reckon would be the best choice? I like the look of marbles but I also like delhezis and Senegals ^_^. Unsure if there's any specific characteristics in any that I should be aware of.

Lastly :D ...I was thinking about a black knife ghost fish, as these personally are my favorites. I know they are a little timid, but my fish aren't particularly that big at the moment. This would be my first choice fish but I understand that it may not be the best choice, so I'll let you lot sway my mind :)

I think you can easily add a palmas palmas, delhezi, Senegalus, and the black ghost knife. It should work out fine majority of the time.

Cichlids can pick on bichirs so they need to watched.

The only thing I wonders is.....what are ur other bottoms feeders you mentioned.

If it less than the girth of the bichirs then it will try to eat it. So u want fish that are more than the girth of the bichirs. Also the same for bichirs as they can be cannibalistic. Especially if u feed with feeders but less likely with the mentioned bichirs compared to an endli. Also once the ghost knife gets fully grown then it can eat small tankmates (neons etc).

My bottom feeders: featherfin synodontis, striped raphael catfish, gibbiceps plec. Don't think we have to worry about them being eaten haha. Think I'd go for just one bichir, unless they like companions of course. My least bulky fish will be the ruby/rainbow shark; that's the onlyone that I can worry about being eaten, but I think he'll be fine, personally. Also, I always monitor my fish and never let bullying occur; if the cichlids were to be aggressive to any bichirs then I'd separate. But my ebjd is kind, though my convict is showing signs of aggression, despite how small he is. Thanks for the help

I would get rid of that convict they can really be agressive if they want to be espicially when they get some size on them

Does everyone agree with this? I must admit, he can be a bit of a bully. Or should I just let things pan out and see how they go?

If it's already showing aggression then would watch it with other fish.

If you remove the convict then does the ebjd become more aggressive? Same result as with moving the convict?

That's what I wonder but I'm not a cichlid expert.
