Appreciate your ideas on building a bog filter. Pond is almost built for some koi gonna be be received soon, and plan to build the bog on one side of the pond like I saw in a picture in Google. I've attached the building pond's photos and also the type of bog filter I saw in Google is in the last picture.

Pond's length = 12ft,
width=9ft
depth = 4ft
Capacity = about 12000 litres
Fish to stock = koi

Suggestions about motor, where is better to put it, whether it should be external or submersible, where to put, inside or outside the bog and what kinda UV light is suitable and where is better to fix it, are highly appreciated.

I'd get a submersible pump and put it in one of those pond basket things. Drop it in the pond to feed your bog filter. Jebao submersible pump work well. As do danner mag drives.
Check out this guy and his how to videos might clear some things up for you. Looks like you have a serious start already though, looks great!

Thanks, I'll check his videos. What speed do you think that would be good for the motor? Pond's capacity is about 12000 litres. Can you give me an idea about UV light too and where to fix it?
Is there a big difference between putting the motor inside the pond and putting it inside the big in a small room. What's the difference of those two ways' results?

When I had uv hooked up in my salt system I used aqua uv brand uv sterilizer.
Can you suggest me its details like how many watts and other things I should care about regarding to my pond's capacity. And a picture would be great if can. I don't have much idea about UV devices. I think I would have to put it in a small room in my bog. How should I fix it? Should I put it to input or output of the bog filter?

You might need a smaller pump to drive the UV light. for a pond that size i would guess 40-60 watts total UV. if you pass water thru the UV to fast it is not effective. I use a 13 watt UV in my 700 gallon pond with a 500 gallon per hour pump and it cleared the green water in less than two weeks. i use Laguna UV. Good luck!!

Thank you! So are you suggesting to use two separate pumps for filter and UV. Or to use one small pump for both? Can you please suggest me a good range of speed for these. Here's where the working has stuck in continuing with the rest of pond. Idea of a bog filter came when the half of work is done. Planning to build the bog two feet long on a short edge of the pond like in last picture. Does uv need a separate room in the bog, if so how big should be room?

Thats what I do......I use a submersible Laguna filter with UV running as a filter and I use a separate more powerful pump to run the falls.....i have a large foam type prefilter on the waterfall pump to help handle sludge.....My pond is 40 years old and i never completely empty it to remove built up sludge. I will never have a completely clear pond but my water is looking better and better......i am not sure what the maximum flow of a 40 watt UV is.....the manufacturer should know.IMG_0206.jpg
