Yes. DB drag.... Was a top contender in Super Street No Wall. Started in 03 running for MTXs "Team Thunderforce" after MTX ceased sponsorships I hooked up with Soundstream and a good friend (the ceo) T3 Audio. Retired after winning World Championship in 06 then getting screwed by Soundstream immediately after....... It took 132 batteries, 60,000 watts and a steel enclosure to get that title. I ate, slept, dreamed, and breathed spl for 4 years..... And still to this day am a recovering SPL addict.
Very nice, I had some state records and championships back in the early 90's, nothing compared to your scale though. Back in my day low to mid 150's was still impressive. Then Alma Gates came out and blew everyone away. Good thing Mark ***uda pissed her off or it's hard to tell how slower that sport / hobby would have progressed. :)

Thank you for doing your part in paving the way!!! Without the old schoolers we would have never even had the chance to do what we did. My hats off to YOU sir.

LOL.... MIC changed in 03. Old term lab and audio controls were very nice for self esteem. The Term lab was nothing shy of brutal.

My van that did the 162 would actually almost bury an Audio control. When I was at a 159 with the MTX 1501Ds I competed at a local show that used an Audio Control. That 159 was a few tenths shy of the world record in my class at the time..... That 159.3 that I did on my Term Lab was a 168.8 on the Audio Control. The 162 it did with the Soundstream amps should have been good for breaking a 170 on the AC.

The vehicles only lasted a few seasons once we started using 6K+ watt strappable amps. The 60K+ watts I was running was going to 2 subs, and they were NOT quad coils. I had to re-seal the windshield at least once a year and the last year when I broke into the 160s I actually broke all the welds on the roof bracing.... Roof began flopping around extremely bad. You'de have headaches for a few days after a full night of testing at 160.... And this was standing 20 feet from a completely enclosed vehicle.

IF you have any pics of old school spl endevours you should start a thread in the lounge and post them up..... I'd LOVE to see them. I have NOTHING but pure respect for our forefathers of the spl game, the old schoolers that made this all possible.

I don't even know where any of the pictures are. At the time I was running six 15's in a diamond with the rear two subs isobaric. This was a wall in a (don't laugh) Toyota Tercel. I ran 8 12's for a while but that didn't do nearly as well. I played around with quite a few designs and had a lot of fun. I also managed to lose some of my hearing. :(

LOL..... Hearing? What's that?

Sounds like we were at 2 totally different ends of the spectrum. IF I even attempted to play music on mine subs blew. My van was equivelent to a top fuel drag car.... Built for one perpose and that purpose lasted less then 3 seconds.... ANY slight miscalculation.... And serious problems. (batteries too low, gains not readjusted after every run since they would actually move during those 3 seconds, volume off a bit, wrong freq, etc)

Sounds like you actually got to enjoy yours, listen to it, have others listen to it...... And PICK the vehicle you installed it in. For this I am VERY jealous. IF I actually got to enjoy mine maybe I'de still be in the game.

My class's wolf pack (top 3-5 guys) was always 1986-1989 Dodge Caravan shorties (the long grands were 1.8 db down. I only know this cause I didn't think it mattered. Wrong answer. Throw it in the gutter go buy another....)

My van was good for nothing more than making little kids scream, run, and poo a lil when I fired it off in the lanes. The part I loved most about it were all the cocky arrogant people with NICE cars, trucks, and SUVs. They'd laugh at me for having a soccer mom van. When the run was over I was the only one laughing. Was all fun and games till I was banned from local shows for decreasing entries.

Fun was what it was all about, but I was in an era of seriousness where everyone forgot about the fun and based everything on winning. Friendships were jeopardized and cliques formed, as well as state wide rivalries. I think I was actually a participant in the demise of the hobby. It got so serious. We all quit after destroying every ounce of credit we had along with the bank account, and selling everything you owned that was valuable just to get to make that appearence in the lanes one more time. I've done a lot of drugs, and NONE of them were even close to the rush you got in the lanes when you were the underdog facing the rival of your class. The next 30 seconds were the most intense 30 seconds of your life.

Just a quick update on the sump. I added the biomedia last night. It has 280 scrubbies and 5 gallons of bioballs. I still need to add some more bioballs. Five gallons didn't go nearly as far as I thought it would.
