So I am semi confused then. So you aren't cutting the whole wall open right. IE you are going to leave a lip so that water can be trapped on either side right? (Great idea btw.)

But then you will epoxy all the concrete that is showing. Does that mean you assume you will not need to put any additional concrete on after you cut the wall? And how are you going to prevent making a huge mess in the 5000 when cutting the wall?

Also so that epoxy or whatever you us can be coated to its correct thickness and dried in less than a day?

Finally when you assemble the walls, do you first rebar the whole thing, then place the blocks, cementing them in and then after the whole thing is built up you fill them with cement? (I honestly know nothing on making this type of tank so I am attempting to learn.)

(I lied on the finally...) Also any idea on the max height the tank can be built to with this type of cement block building block? (IE free standing and not just 1 strait poor.)

Thanks, and maybe some day in the far future I will be able to do something like that, but for now I can have fun seeing how it goes for you.

great idea but i am plaqnning to remove the wall between the current 5000 and the new build

But then you will epoxy all the concrete that is showing.
yes...........i will water proof all concrete exposed by removing the wall with a product called POND SHIELD ( epoxy)

Does that mean you assume you will not need to put any additional concrete on after you cut the wall? yes no new concrete

And how are you going to prevent making a huge mess in the 5000 when cutting the wall? the 5000 will have no water in it and i guess i will use plastic sheeting for the splashing of the concrete saw...

Also so that epoxy or whatever you us can be coated to its correct thickness and dried in less than a day? it usually only needs one coat and will harden enough in 24 hours in those 'small' areas....

Finally when you assemble the walls, do you first rebar the whole thing,

the vertical rebar is put in first....either when the footings/slab is poured or in my case by drilling and setting in construction epoxy for that purpose..........normally the horizontal bar, corner braces are put in as each level is built.....there is an exception on the back left corner as the block has to attach to the exisiting wall and instead of lying the bar in the block it has beeen epoxied into the old wall

then place the blocks, lift over the vertical rebar

cementing them in the point of the cement at this point is to hold the block still and keep the grout ( cement) from running out when the wall is filled full and then after the whole thing is built up you fill them with cement? (I honestly know nothing on making this type of tank so I am attempting to learn.)

(I lied on the finally...) Also any idea on the max height the tank can be built to with this type of cement block building block? (IE free standing and not just 1 strait poor.??????? )

this tank is ten blocks high ( 80 inches) and made with 8 inch wide block.

i dont know but if 12 inch block was used i would guess 10 feet is reasonable

Thanks, and maybe some day in the far future I will be able to do something like that, but for now I can have fun seeing how it goes for you.[/quote]

Hm thanks. And yah by saying 1 strait pour I was thinking say a swimming pool design where one pours in the concrete and still has support from the ground on all sides (but say 1 for viewing).

Anyways look forward to watching how this gets finished up.
