Tankmates with JARDINI (READ!!!)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm going to my lfs today and I want to get another fish. In my tank i have a common pleco 10''-12'' and my jar 8''. my jar is spooked by everything. when i approach the tank he will swim right to the bottom corner to get away. also when he is near my pleco and the pleco moves he will freak out and quickly swim away. I'd like a semi-aggressive fish but i dont want to buy a fish that he will kill in a few months.

Anyone every have a barracuda with theres? Just wondering cause some guys selling a 8" frontosa , peacock bass , barracuda, blue gill and catfish for 40 i wanna pick it up for my jardini tank to keep the front and bass

This part is totally true.

I've been trying to tell people that who say "nah my jardini is fine"

Sometime between 8 and 12 inches they'll suddenly turn and start picking off your tankmates.

it'll start with the jardini casually snapping at or nipping tankmates that get in it's way, and from there is escalates to vicious beatings, ripping fish up and killing them.

But people get fooled, mine seemed like a complete softy at 6 inches, a couple of months later and it was a mean bastard.

I should tell you that is exactly like what happens with some clown knife fish. Cute little guy, a few months later, a voracious predator!

It's always a hit or miss with jardini and other fish, sometimes they will tolerate them for a while and then one day decide that they don't like your other fish and go on a murder spree. I have mine with gars but my jar is old and passive most of the time.
