Don't forget smaller and somtimes even big fish still need hiding spots from a fiesty jardini, at least they got a safe spot when the jar feels like givin them a hard time

Anyone know or tried a jardini with a group of discus? My Lfs has a 3 in jardini and discus about 4-5 in. Thinking of getting the jardini and trying it with 4-5 discus in my 80 gal. I know I'll npeventually need a higher tank once they get big, but figured they are still small. I'm planning to do a community with plants. Currently I am cycling the tank and just have drift wood in there. Wanted to see if anyone has tried a jar with discus.

i doubt it i have heard about these guys killing fish twice there size and just being really aggressive i could picture him killing them once he gets bigger but just wait for the experts they will shoot you straight my guess is no but yeah dont count on my word i only have a silver haha good luck with whatever you end up getting

I have a jardini with 6 blood parrots and a 6 inch silver arowana. Jardini is 13-15 inches. Never shown aggression. :)

I have a 16" Jar in a 250gl tank....i bought it at 2.5 inches....He has had Pakus and chichlids as tank mates (all of them dead),When it was 12" i added two 12" plecos with it as the cleaning crew...nipped fins were regular for the plecos fr almost a year but now they live peacefully....Jar used to get irritated when the plecos went to the susface ...I have another tank with a 11" Flowern horn (with king attitude)...I wanted to test if the Flower horn wud share space with aro or vice versa....one fine day i fed the flowerhorn and jar nicely and then put the FH in Jars tank...for a hour both were in either corners of the tank....then ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE ....FH aggresively chased the jar...being swift Jar escaped its jaws....But there was so much violence and splashing....tank decor was like hit by a tornado ....Plecos took a hit neways....So now again they r in seperate tanks....PLASTIC DUCKIE is the best mate....

I have successfully tried several tankmates with my jar, so far the succesful ones are big angels, bichirs, tigerbarbs, parrots, gar, the only catch is i always leave his lights on open at night and in the morning, i use two lights alternately.so he is lighted 24 hrs. Inoticed if i closed the lights within an hr he attacks his tankmates. after this discovery so far everything became peaceful, but the school of tetras i tried were gone in an hour with or without lights. Lol
