Hm i guess i could do that. I just don't want to use any more pvc than i have to. I just don't trust it for some reason, well i guess my plumbing skills. I guess i have a couple options...

Do they have plastic hose clamps?
They do have plastic hose clamps, but IME they're crap. They break all too easily for my tastes.

The pvc standpipe really shouldn't be very difficult. All you need is 1-2 ft of the correct diameter pipe, a female NPT x slip that will fit your pump outlet, and a female NPT x slip to accept the hose barb for your size of hose. cement the pvc pieces together, then screw the pvc onto the pump (use thread tape!). Screw the hose barb into the top (again, use thread tape!), connect the hose, and clamp with the metal hose clamp. And viola, You're done!

It's confusing at first, but once you figure out what parts you need it gets a lot easier to do. And even a little more fun, as you try to figure out the most efficient way to get pvc to go from your pump to your outlets...

I wouldn't cement the pvc to the pump, just in case you want to remove it later. But you can use pvc thread tape (teflon tape). If you wrap the threads with the tape, then screw the pvc threaded coupling on, it forms a water tight seal, without the need to cement. But all of the slip (normal pvc) connections should be cemented to prevent leaks.

alright looks like i have an idea of what i am going to do. The home depot people are going to be pissed with all the questions and lack of knowledge i give off about plumbing. Hopefully i can get this set up tonight :headbang2

I have more pics even if i don't get it set up, just to keep the pics coming.

Thanks again conner

You're welcome. Trust me, I was in the same boat as you in regards to plumbing when I started out. To date, I've plumbed 3 complete sump systems, as well as re-plumbed my entire house sewer and water system on my own. Once you start learning, it gets a lot easier (although you never really learn to love plumbing. But its better than electrical work, I guess).

zip ties?
+1 on zip ties. The PVC is the better way to go. But if it dose not work out use two pairs of pliers to cinch down some medium size zip ties then cut the excess off. I have used them before in places I did not want metal hose clamps.
