Well I just got my nikon D80, and I was just wondering is there a way to use the speedlight commander feature without the built in camera firing; or is there a way to eliminate or reduce the reflection off the glass???

see if you can use some foil or something to bounce the flash up.

I shoot my d80 at a slight angle to avoid the reflection. However it's hard to avoid it with the built in light. I bought the nikon sb-600 from cameraaddict. com for 170.00. You won't get much glare from that since it's higher up. I want to get the attachment to use the sb-600 with a cord. You can see the results in my thread "some nice shots of my captives". I've only had the camera since wednesday so by no means am I an expert but I haven't put it down since I got it and I bought the field guide which is full of info and great tips. Youtube also has awesome info on the d80 and its possibilities.

What!? Really? I'm gonna try and find that in the manual.

this is true the D80 does have a commander mode; the only problem I'm havin with it is the refection i get from the built in flash... I already ordered the another SU800 for my remote flashes.... If I only new I would've kept the one I already had:irked::irked::irked:Oh well......

thanks rallys I did this and it works pretty good; but I think I'll just get another speedlight commander; makes it easier......

or is there a filter that could minimize or completely take the glare away??? polorized or something???
