Wtf indeed... those are glo-fish colours!
Do all choco cichlids colour morph like that or is your one.... special?

My understanding is that they all do this according to mood but I never know what Bobo is going to look like! He tends to stay brown/pink the most though.
Only colors he hasn't done are solid blue and white. But the tiger thing tripped me out when I saw it...he only does that at night so I think its a camouflage thing.
It's something to see...when he changes if you blink you think you're tripping...its like someone invisible is air brushing him then BOOM he's different!
I did notice when he turned certain colors. If there was high activity or aggression he would go red, purple, orange or gold. This was when he and my (RIP) Severum Chip were tussling. If Bobo is just cruising the tank he goes earth toned 'stone' colors. When the Oscar chases him he goes mud brown and stripes bleed through underneath. The metallic rainbow color was shortly after I introduced him to the main tank and he'd just settled in. Haven't seen him that way since.
In fact he hasn't gone red , gold or orange since Chip was gone. Once the tank settled down he went to darker and more muted color. If he fights with the parrot sometimes his belly/chin areas get brighter.
Not sure about the 'army green' phase other than he seemed relaxed. He almost never goes that color. Bobo only turned black one time, even his eyes went dark. Looked like a black hole with fins...kinda creepy. Have no idea what that was about.
The tiger phase is only at night when the tank is dark. The first time I saw it Bobo was resting in some vines. I thought he was sick or dying! When I tapped him he went dark and swam away, lol.
90 percent of the time he's chocolate brown with a pink blotch near each eye and a pink stripe across his nose. Sometimes the pink turns burgundy. The rest of the time he's pink/purple.
Bobo reminds me of Elmer Fudd in the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he drank some Jekyll/Hyde potion and started spinning around the room changing into all kinds of crazy ass colors with stripes, checkers and plaids!

LOL its actually pretty easy...my office is downstairs where the tanks are so anytime I go upstairs I'm walking past everything. And these goofballs are always doing stuff.
Plus its kinda hard to miss a psychedelic acid trip fish!!! ?
