The Official Boxing Thread

no , but I know that he raises (or did) them.. always thought that was kinda cool:)

Yeah,it had short run on Animal Planet.

you know , for all of the train wrecks in his life,(mostly self induced, but some of them not), he is remarkable in his ability to bounce back ,, I TRULY admire him more now than when he was the king of the 80's sports world(along with Mikey J, THE OVERRATED CHAMP)

I believe mike has always had mental and anger issues. I mean, that one documentary, don't remember the name, where they interview mike for like an hour really shows you where his mind is at. just the words he uses to describe his thoughts and things like that. i'm really rooting for the guy to just continue to find happiness

I never seen his pigeon show either, kinda wanna see it now. I didn't know he's been on tour although not sure if he is finished with the tour but I would've liked to see him speak. they kind of follow him on tour in the being mike Tyson show

I am intrigued by his life journey ,,, AND IN REALITY, I think everybody has some kind of character weakness,,, his is just violence and in the public eye,,,he just interest's me , more and more the FARTHER AWAY from his boxing career he gets, I GUESS IT MAKES HIM MORE HUMAN(same thing happened watching ALI age)

I missed the first two rounds but saw the rest with little pockets of distraction since I had my kids with me but i'm a bit disappointed in wlad. he did too much clinching, pulling, pushing and throwing. part of it is the ref's fault for allowing it to go on so long. he deducted a point from wlad in the 11th round for pushing povetkin down. reminded me of why I like vitali more than wlad. clinching is one thing but pulling the guy's head down and purposely leaning on him to tire him out is too much

I haven't seen all wlad's fights but the ones I've seen, he's been using this tactic a lot since he's been ko'd. he continuously pulls the guy's head down and leans on him and when the guy ducks down he'll put the guy's head under his armpit and lean on him. but again, partly it's the ref's fault for allowing it and partly povetkin's fault too since he always put himself in that position too

now on the other hand, wlad won the fight with decent footwork, jabbing the hell outta povetkin and landed a lot of clean power punches. povetkin took a lot of damage. povetkin got knocked down on several occasions but there were punches (which hurt povetkin) and pushes from wlad that forced povetkin to the canvas.

official judges scorecards were 119-104, wlad by a landslide

I thought that HBO was going to show it later this evening.Oh well,I can still catch Cotto's fight later on.

Wlad wasn't just leaning on him, he was giving him little forearm/elbows at the same time. Very boring fight. The ref was awful; I would have made them punch out of all that clinching. They were heavyweights, and it was a Klitschko fight, so I expected some clinching, but I've never seen that much clinching right from the opening bell.
Wlads' left hand did pretty much all the work with excellent jabs and short lead hooks. Povetkin is a tough SOB.

Did anyone else watch the Cotto fight?
Cotto looked great, although his opponent was sub-par. He landed some mean body shots that opened up the head. Great KO against a not-so great opponent.

Anyone watch the Provodnikov vs Alvarado fight? Great fight... the "Siberian Rocky" is a beast!

Didn't see it but I heard about it..I like his name..Siberian Rocky
