The realationship between fish stunning and fish health+suffering

Hello; Here is a question for you personally. You have already signaled your viewpoint. Lets us say lots of evidence and undeniable scientific data are compiled. Say the more important data and relevant evidence point to conclusions you do not favor. Will you abide by such an outcome?
Can you explain further?
Do you mean if there will be a scientific proof that fish that are held in tiny tanks and suffering from growth stunning are happy and healthy , will i stop trying to remove those huge species from the list? Probebly yes... but do you really think thats the case ?

Hello; For reference the above link is a typical ethics thread and not to distant in the past. Might give the OP some insight.
Hi thanks, ill look in

Its important to emphasize that the goal of this move is to limit *import* and trade of fish, and not aim to prevent fish keeping. The regulations im dealing with are with these parts and not against the aquarist.

Hello; Unfortunately, your agenda is showing. Try as you may to appear fair and unbiased, such is not the case. I and i figure most others see the intent. You want someone to tell us what fish we can have in our tanks. My guess is that someone, from your viewpoint, may as well be you.

But to the above question. There are some fish keepers who change out close to 100% of a tanks water every few days. Some who in addition keep on top of water parameters daily. The fish being kept by some outside enforcement group may judge the tank size sub-standard. On the other hand, some jerk with a 10,000-gallon trophy tank may let it go and have poor water qualities. What you appear to propose is a form of big governments little cousin.

There are reasons to ban the import of some species. Too many have been released into the wild in ecosystems where they cause havoc. One of my undergraduate thesis papers was about the water hyacinth back in 1968 or 69. That too many aquarists are boneheaded is not in question.

I do not dispute too many fish are kept in too small of tanks. I do not like such. I have seen too many bad tanks the last 60 + years to the point I no longer encourage new fish keepers. A number of times folks ee my tanks and like what they see. When they remark about having a tank, I try to talk them out of it. Point is i get your point. I do not however want someone looking over my shoulder when i go into a fish shop.

But carry on. I will keep watching this space to see how much help you get from fellow members.

You keep saying "undeniable scientific proof". Concerning these issues you will at best have some theories or opinions. It's disturbing to me when would-be politicians get ahold of said theories and try to rile people up, start movements, and pass legislation that will only harm our hobby.

So no, no help from me on this one lol. We need education on proper fishkeeping, not restrictions on it.
