Kind of an odd request here but has anyone here ever tried keeping the taimen (Hucho taimen),is there anywhere at all in North america where you can buy them or any place at all that would order them in for you?

Never seen one before I googled it. Looks really cool, though. I hope you can find one!

The Taimen is a cities listed fish and would not be available to anyone other than certified researchers, I'm not even sure about any being available to researchers.

Well I was wrong about them being on cites, here is what wiki has to say...

I doubt you ever find one, those are siberian fish, and would require extremely large containment, not to mention whatever other requirements they might have. I cant imagine any US based importer, or breeder ever seeing them as worthwhile. Why in the world would anyone want one ??? :(

If you can't understand why anyone would want one you are on the wrong forum, lol...

That could be very true, but anyone who promotes people to try to obtain and keep Native Fishes that shouldnt be even be considered, which could also induce newbys to try that is in the wrong hobby.

I was being humorous nativepredator, no one is suggesting displacing any native fish with anything else. I have no idea if the OP is a newbie or a research scientist, all the OP asked for was information, so far no one has any but I see no reason to attack the OP's credibility just because you don't think she should be able to get info on the fish in question. Lots of fish that no one thought should or could be kept are being kept successfully. But what I meant was this is the monsterfishkeeper list :headbang2

never heard of it but it sounds like a col fish that fits in my catagory cuz it rhymns with caiman!!! LOL

Holy crap! Looks pretty beast! Its like a cross between a snakehead, Salmon and Pike. Google it yourself folks!
