Haha funny, well I hate to argue with you so OK I'll just have to agree with you on that one.

That is a lot of specialized applications, that was an interesting product list too bad they don't sell smaller quantities I like to try a couple. I don't think I'll be around long enough to go through 25Lbs.
 
what effect, if any, does this have on live plants? Also, is there a shelf life on the powder? I found some "septic helper" I bought in '96, is it still any good?

I use it in a planted tank with no ill effects.

Well.... Looks like Im in to do this. Im rather Excited to get going on it. I dont know how this topic hasnt exploded with people posting or joining in. I for one would love all the positive effects of this in my set ups. My wife even was quite excited for us to start using this in our tanks.

I will be picking some up tomorrow.

I will have to find out the brand, but a local plumbing supply shop here where im at that I get all my PVC and such from has products they carry I havent heard of. They claim the Rid-x branded stuff sold in most stores are a much weaker version of the products sold in pro shops like they carry for the same things. Im curious to see what they have and determine if its useable, If its really more concentrated, has other bactaeria/enzymes/probiotic that are even further in doing great things Or if there are additives that make it not useable for our needs.

Think this is a possible case that its the same but better/more potent then products like rid-x?
 
The products sold for fish ponds etc. work just fine. Rid-X, Earthworm and other powders sold for septic systems are all vertually the same. RD. posted some info on the last page about some good stuff. The idea behind the products sold in grocery stores is the extream low cost as they are not marketed for the pond/aquarium trade. They are all basicly the same thing. It will be interesting to see what you find and the cost.

I looked at some of the ones that RD posted info on. The one company that even offers the 30day trial looks pretty cool. But have to buy it in big quantities. I already do that with dry ferts for planted tanks. then share out some of what ive got that I wont use for cheap.

Definitely wanting to keep the cost factor down. I will be checking with the Plumbing supply company today to see what their bottle is and how much cost. Will let you all know.

Really excited to try this out.
