The Use of Probiotics in Aquaculture

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The product that I have been using for the past few years, Bio-Clean, just gets dumped directly in tank. It’s much cleaner than previous septic strains that I used, so no need to strain.
Is this what your product looks like?

That’s the stuff alright. I’m using it all of my tanks. I spread it around a little but always put some in the floss or first filter sock.

I spend $50 a year on this powder and I save 50 hours a years cleaning filters and gravel.

I keep Oscars and African cichlids. I keep mollies and guppies. I keep African Mooneyfish. They all reacted well to this. The only obvious difference, I believe, is a slightly reduced snail population.

But I cannot swear that isn’t due to changes in our local tapwater.

Yes, that’s what I use, and I still have MTS that seem to survive in my tank.

Bio clean is definitely better, I ran out and started using Rid-x and it leaves a weird gel in my sump. I’ll strain it next time.
i bought the rid x as that was the only one available locally. i mixed it into water then poured it through a metal sieve to remove the wheat or whatever binder was used.

How much are you using per 100 gallon?

3-4 Tablespoons for 300g once per week. Yeah I definitely think that chafe needs to be removed. I have a lot of snails and shrimp in the sump that slowly mow it down but I think it may have contributed to an hair algae break out I’m suffering from ruining my mosses.
