Thinking About Constructing a Monster Aquarium Yourself?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any new pics of the monsters.....must be getting huge now they have all that space to grow in!

I'd be interested to see a cost/benefit of doing a wood framed tank VS a concrete block tank. A poured concrete tank would surely be expensive because of all the framing labor... but if you figure anything this large will almost have to be a permanent installation, it makes sense to me to use something like concrete block that will not rot or erode with exposure. I just built a 200gal tank with plywood/glass, and I painstakingly coated every surface that could ever be exposed to water. Concrete blocks would seem much easier for a monster tank like this... although I don't know, they may come out being more expensive.

good job TED, u built a great tank, it was awesome.

keep us update wth more wonderful pic.

yr update awaits.

:)

Ted,

Your new 8k tank is very nice! I'm sure that pimas you got from me will see right at home. I'm surprise that your previous tank (3500) use only 1000 watt to keep the temp up in Seattle's winter. How many watts are you going to use for this one? Good luck Ted.
