Welcome To Our New Web Site! Blue Star Insulated Concrete Forms redefine the meaning of quality in residential and commercial construction with its unique wall-building system for use in both below and above grade applications. Our form is an ultra-light, 3-dimensional, one-piece, stay-in-place form manufactured under the most stringent specifications using the highest quality expanded polystyrene available.

At 12 inches high, 12 inches wide, and 4 feet long, the form has cavities created in the molding process which, once filled with steel reinforcement bar and concrete, result in an 8 inch diameter screen grid structure with amazing integrity providing unsurpassed life safety.

The structure remains encapsulated in the expanded polystyrene form as if it were in a thermos, which results in energy efficiency, good indoor air quality, noise reduction and structural longevity. Once the wall is built, literally any interior or exterior finish can be applied. The Blue Star Insulated Concrete Form wall building system assures that your investment will remain sound for life.

I think you are on to something there...If you look at the voids in the styrofoam form, the grid looks to be 50% of the total space.
This would result in 50% less concrete and re-bar, for a given wall size...

Then you can apply a liner of your choosing over a very strong, sound understructure. Looks like something I'd seriously look into, if I were building a concrete tank like you are thinking about...

I suppose you could construct a stick built shell and roof over the tank, just with the money you'd save on using 1/2 as much concrete and re-bar

I say "Good find !"

I would be concerned about the water pressure displacing the foam. Basically pushing it through the concrete matrix.

ok i see what you are saying and i have found another version of the product i saw on diy networks blog cabin and it was a full cement wall not just a grid and the cement for the floor is poured at the same tim ill find the link but i looks like a better way to have a complete bok with 2 windows than worry about the floor and wall joint leaking

Benefits of the Quad-Lock Building System

Owners of Quad-Lock buildings consistently praise their living comfort, noise reduction, energy efficiency, and strength. View our Concrete Home Benefits video.
Fast, Simple, Accurate

The Quad-Lock Insulated Concrete Forms are infinitely versatile, allowing design and construction flexibility unmatched in other types of forming!

Engineered

Quad-Lock is an engineered system - designed by builders for builders. Approved by the International Code Council and many other code agencies, and tested by Intertek Testing Services Warnock Hersey, the internationally recognized testing agency.
Safe, Fire Rated

Quad-Lock Panels are manufactured from high density, biologically safe, fire retardant expanded polystyrene. The Quad-Lock Building System will not support combustion. The fire resistance of a finished Quad-Lock wall with 8" concrete thickness is 4 hours per UL tests.
Super Insulating

With Quad-Lock you can now build walls up to a true R-Value of 40, so we are the champion of North America in R-Value! The Quad-Lock Building System can save as much as 80% on heating & cooling costs- savings every month! The thermal mass of the concrete combined with the EPS insulation keeps you warm when it's cold outside and keeps you cool when it's hot outside. This means more comfort in your home and more money in your pocket!
Solid

Quad-Lock construction gives you a solid, reinforced concrete wall - your choice of 4 to 12 inches thick. No foam tunnels through the concrete. No thin/thick sections. No worries about rotting. No insects crawling through your walls. Just solid, uniform, insulated concrete walls with standard rebar.
World Class Support

Your local dealer is equipped to answer your questions, prepare detailed estimates, and assist at the jobsite. Local Quad-Lock Field Representatives are also ready to assist with quantity pricing, job site training, product seminars and training. Our Installation Video, Product Manual, and other informative technical and promotional literature tells you exactly how to build with Quad-Lock. Read more about Value & Service.

Do the math...the maximum PSI exerted against the foam will be fine...If you read the product info, they build all sorts of rooms walls and floors against the foam matrix with the concrete grid inside...

Just like putting an acrylic tank on a foam board, it doesnt matter how many tons it is, spread out over the entire surface of the foam, it easily supports the weight because the "P.S.I." is very low...
