Tiger Oscar with Swim Bladder Issues..??

I recently did a lot of work on my tank, and at one point, my Oscar kinda spazzed on me a lil. Well, the next thing I knew, I saw him upside down between the wall and a pot. I flipped him up out of there, but he hasn't been the same since. He keeps floating up to his left ( I believe) side. Did ALOT of research, and the swim bladder is the only answer I could come up with. So I did a Epson Salt treatment on the tank and tried to get him to eat peas (as I had read), but he wouldn't eat them. this morning I got up and found him lying on the bottom like he was fine. started swimming what appeared to be normal, then he started struggling again. Ive been watching him night and day for the last 48 hrs or so, and hate watching him struggle. what else can I try? He dosent seem to be DYING, so there has to be something I can do to help him..Any suggestions would be great..:help2:
 
My ebjd is going through the same thing (posted a thread here). The only thing that I found could help is peas, like you already tried, and lowering the temp to around 72deg. Let him fast for a few days as he can be constipated. Hopefully some other members can help you with more advice. Good luck man hope he makes it, oscars are very cool fish.
 
I've also had probs with my EBJD and SBD. I couldn't save mine. I tried a variety of things w/o success. I did learn a lot though.

If I came upon the problem again, I would do the Mag Sulfate thing and try feeding peas. If no luck I would medicate with an antibiotic like Kanamycin while performing 2x daily 2x strength meth blue baths for a few days. Sometimes SBD can be caused by a bacterial infection so this may help.

Google "methylene blue Swim Bladder Disease" and you will find some interesting reading. If it is SBD it can be a PITA. Good luck.

Thanks for the recommendation. Im going to purchase some methylene blue and see if it can save my ebjd, just hope its ok with bottom feeders like my pleco.

Soo..Awesome, right? Thought I had an apiphany, so I went down to my local WalyWorld and convinced the pharmacist to let me get a syringe...GREAT story BTW...LMAO...I looked like a goon..lol...Anyhoo, now I gave it my best shot, and didn't see any bubbles. Now, my buddies pissed at me and not acting much better :cry:
 
Within the last week, I switched my substraight to sand, then he got sick so I treated with Epsoms and was throwing peas in leaft and right trying to get him to eat one.. :/
 
Im from Florida..Moved here last year and the water here seems to be terrible.. Ive had tanks around me at different points off and on throughout my entire life, and I don't remember ever having the amount of water issues Ive had here in the last 5-6 months.
