that's why I'm saying a 48x24 footprint is minimum. Even when younger they aren't the most active fish either. One reason a larger volume is recommended is the bioload

So regular water changes, an FX6 filter, maybe a bubble wall to add oxygen to the water column, and some mosses growing on all the rocks and probably some floating plants and maybe Anubias should keep it nice and clean then yes? I'm writing all this down, and now I've only got like 2 tanks left to plan!

don't forget sand and a tube to hide in remembering to size it to the eels size since they prefer tubes only slightly bigger than they are
Just about all of my tanks are going to be sand, especially going with so many different species of spiny Eel! :D my brother is a handyman, so he's always got lengths of tube laying around in all sorts of sizes!

Just remember that only surface movement adds oxygen, the bubbles only mix the surface, you do not add oxygen with a bubble wall....unless it mixes the surface tension well.
