I hope that all of your tropical gars can successfully overcome their infections if they have them.

I think certificates of authenticity are a big thing on their side of the world, just look at Asian arowanas (of course then those certificates are needed to prove that the fish aren't from the wild to avoid legal issues).
I mean, it's pretty hard to fake a tropical gar, right?
xander;5048788; said:certificate of authenticity. around here you get clowns who will try passing off other species as trops for a quick buck. it's happened with polys, payara and many other fish. as gars are somewhat "new" in that people are just starting to closer attention to the various species, we are trying to ensure that the same thing doesn't happen with them.

PS-- here LFS still just label gars whatever they feel like![]()
xander;5048794; said:yup. there have been instances whereby people use reputable lfs names to con others into believing the species of a fish.
most lfs still name gars whatever they feel like. it's the hope that with an increased awareness, this will slowly change. it's a small country and small marketplace, so its probably much easier to do so than in the States
and Sol, what is this i hear about you having 26 cubans?!?!
