I’ve seen those, but except for the eureka red you do have to go looking harder than just a petsmart.

Here’s a rare guy:
Red rooster Pygmy wasp fish:

It is a scorpionfish that grows to only 2.5 inches, making the perfect nano lionfish. The only problem is that they never show up for sale.

Dwarf pangasius. Like I said in the mini tankbuster thread, it's a big shame they're not as common as true pangasius, because they actually stay small but are otherwise identical to the real thing.

I'm not sure what uncommon or rare means. Just because its not found commonly in a LFS, doesn't count for me
To me a rare fish might be one that comes from a country where politics doesn't allow collection.
In that case Iranocichla hormuzensis from southern Iran, or Nandopsis rhamsdeni from Cuba would be a reason to be considered rare.
Or....
If a species comes from only 1 tiny lake in the world, and no where else.
In that case, fish of the genus Stomatepia that only found in Lake Barumbi mbu, in a country in constant turmoil from terrorism or war might be considered rare.
Below Stomatepia pindu. from that lake

The white spots on the face are cephalic pits used to detect prey crawling under the mud it hunts for
