Nice sump. It is very organized. I noticed that you keep all the bio-media submerged. Is there a reason for this? I have heard of this before, but I never knew why. I keep mine half exposed to air.

UGF's work (though not ideal) and they are completely submerged. In most cases (IMO) there is plenty of agitation in the overflow to provide plenty of oxygen for the Bacteria’s. Technically if you keep it half exposed, you will wind up with dry spots which will be useless.

Those are Bacterial House, originated from Japan Momotoro Koi farm. It has been alleged as one of the best filter materials in the world. Best used in the Bakki shower system.

very nice...in your first compartment what are those cylindrical shapes?

Nope, i don't use UV light. The AZOO is a denitrator, but not a good one and I'm no longer using it...

I can't believe I missed this the 1st time around. That's some sick sump!!!. You notice a difference using Bacteria House? They cost quite a bit of $$$. Wonder if they're worth it.
