Because they arnt real mammons. If it isnt chipped and certed, More than likely its a KKP. Mr. Wang of Happy Breed hand selects each mammon/ignot because there a certain specifications to be called mammon. They are only sold at a bigger size as well.
Seeing as I have never personally watched Happy Farm's selection & exporting process first hand, I wouldn't know.

The ones that I have seen, were indeed Happy Farm Red Mammon's, and were chipped, and had certs. The cert # can & were cross referenced on Happy's website. One of the owners had also been to Happy's farm in Taiwan. FYI - they are not just sold at large sizes, and good luck buying a larger one from Lucky for $300 shipped.

Click on the pic - these are/were currently for sale at a LFS in Toronto.
Chipped, and certs.

This isn't the first time that I have seen and/or heard the same thing about some of the Happy RM's that are shipped to North America.
I personally wouldn't waste that kind of $$$$ on a roll of the dice, but hey, that's just me.

Somebody is getting had because you know as well as I do how easy a cert is to fake. A couple clicks in photoshop and done. I want video proof of the chips being scanned and cross referenced. 2 of them look of decent quality and they seem hungry haha. Personally Ive only seen pictures so idk what its like dealing with Happy Breed. http://www.bcaquaria.com/forum/clas...nghong-cichlid-mix-8-free-12-pleco-sold-7384/
Granted they are not going to be neon red once the synthetic astaxanthin wears off. Mammons made quite a name for themselves a few years back, But I think with the price and infertility people have lost interest. But thats the price you pay if you want a top notch KKP. Ive seen plenty of KKP labeled as Mammon that clearly are not.
Example of a true mammon in the states. http://www.flowerhornusa.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20902

Happy breed is the breeder farm at taiwan. Last year i was at taiwn the price of 1LG is near CAN$550, and there is only one in the show tank, the lfs has to order for me from the farm.
That's from a visit to Happy in 2008. So approx $500 US for a "large" Red Mammon, purchased directly from the farms show tank.

I know some of the posters in those links, while certs can be faked, transponder #'s that are cross referenced on Happy's website - ummm, not so easy to fake that. You want video proof now? LOL, yeah, I'll get right on that. Everytime someone shows a pic of a ****ty looking Happy red mammon, people cry foul about faked certs.

How did a thread on the update of my KK get derailed to the nth degree about Happy farm fish?

I personaly couldn't give a flying F about Red Mammons. :grinno:

$500 isnt aweful for pick of the litter out of a show tank. Other flowerhorns have gone for MUCH more.

I know what they are, I want one. You said "other flowerhorns" so it sounded like you were saying mammons were flowerhorns as well.
