Vieja zonatus?

This is a Hartwegi it looks similar as a juvenile but I would say its a Zonatus still due to its color and overall look

Never owned a zonatus, but I've grown these 2 hartwegis from about 3". Can't find any juvi pics, but they didn't have great coloration like Aquamojo's pic

You have any pictures of your grow outs?

I have had synspilums and have one and man I've seen some nice ones out there and mine look very dull compared to them. Everyone who had them said they were WC or F1. I get mine from fish swap meets to local hobbyiest for a few bucks. lol

Surprised your pleco in the pics isn't eating all that algae off your tiles.

Full up on algae wafers and bits of bio gold I think...
I had a young Hartwegi, ime they are more pink than blue at this size?

No. The fish in the photo above is a Zonatus. Below is the same fish as an adult.

I'd be hard pressed to identify the poster's fish based on what I can see. There are three that comes to mind: Zonatus, Hartwegi and P. "Coatzacoalcos"

I actually grabbed it from google searching for Hartwegi. I maybe wrong but I would lean towards Zonatus

The brood I'm referring too

Aren't zonatus and coatzacoalcos the same species just different catch location,

The brood I'm referring to

The pair successfully bred twice, but I didn't have any desire to salvaged any of them. The parents guarded them for a couplefof weeks, but they ultimately provided a bit of protein for the other fish in the tank
