Vortex XL Diatom filter on my 210g

i used to use mine to vaccuum in order to no drop the water level

I never let mine run continuously, never knew you were able to

How do you go about running it continuously ?

just dont unplug it lol the manual says it can be run continuously if needed, but just to be careful about the bag clogging and shutting off the flow. also oil the motor evertime you clean it out

right on ill do that. I ordered the thing a week ago from aquarium guys it is yet to ship out......

Jose you use the carbon for it yet ? The super char stuff ?

Thtats nifty man, I might have to do some shopping for one of those so I can quit useing my Mag350 as a D filter (PITA to get loaded with DE)

I let it run all night, my 210g is crystal clear now. Its amazing!

hey guys . Whats the difference between vortex xl and the vortex D-1?

XL is rated at 400 GPH I think the D1 is around 200 gph

Diatom filters do wonders for a tank.

I would reccomend running it for about 8-10 hours once a week or so.

Remember to turn it upside down when you restart it. It's all in the instructions.

Diatoms can filter down to 1 micron. Yes 1. O-N-E Super clear water. Will even filter out Ick and other nasty little things.

My XL needs a new bag. But the D-1 is getting its workout now. Had to pull it out of storage.

Just got home from Monterey and setup my new XL with some super char on my 90 pics soon

I had the D1 on my 55 and that tank was spotless. I then shut it off and tried using it months later and the motor was ruined. I guess thats what happends when you leave these on 24/7
