Vortex XL Diatom filter on my 210g

hmmm this one (the new one I got ) spits more diatomaceous earth into the tank than the loner I had. I am gonna give it a few more hours...... Then I gotta go to bed I think
 
where did you guys get your XL's from? aquariumguys and bigals are both sold out, as are most other places. one site, diatomfilters.com, says that all the vortex diatom filters are being discontinued due to manufacturer defects?
 
Got mine from aquarium guys. No defects yet......... Knock on wood. The DE getting spit in the water was me attaching the bag wrong (DOH!)

Any more word on what these defects might be ?
 
no, sorry I wasn't trying to start a scare or anything. i saw on the website below where it says "discontinued due to manufacturer issues" next to all the models and was wondering if anyone knew anything about that.

looking at it again it says backordered until 2nd week of may so maybe lack of inventory is the manufacturer issue, who knows. they are out of stock everywhere they are reasonably prices though.
 
out of stock, my friend is selling me a vortex d-1 for $50, hopefully i can cut it to $40 or $35 know that brand new is only $78 bucks..
 
Do you have any side pics of the tank so that we can see the results better?
 
what is teh website for those filters ? I am buying a 300 gallon tank in a couple weeks and was wondering what one I should try getting ?
