Wednesday13’s Fish Room

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What the...did you seriously just say that in a response to me???:grinno::OMG:

"...
pushin 40 now..."....pfffft! :nilly:

Of course, I do understand, and sympathize. I mean, squeezing under my plywood 360 to remove the pump for servicing was way easier back when I was 60; it's a real PITA now... :lol3:

I knew thatd get a laugh outta ya… no sympathy needed. The age mention was just as much referring to how stupid i was in my 20’s 😂… no concern of ever not being able to physically fit under there lol and also making the stand too short. Theres just enough room to stick my head in between the sump and stand sideways. Removing socks is a treat with chit right up in ur face 😂🤦‍♂️

Lol good one. It's all relative I guess. I turn 56 next week and getting tired of hurting myself everytime I try to do something I used to easily do 15 years ago.

First off...:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

Lookin great. My kind of fish room for sure, youve captured the raw essense of practicality it seems.

That lung is one bad mofo!!! I see little man already eyeing everything up, making plans of his own.

Making me look like a bum with a layer of paint on your lumber stands instead of my signature "natural" finish, fancy as hell man. :clap

Ur too kind Tony 💀🤘… aint nothin fancy round these parts lol… those wood stands are painted because the wood was “reclaimed”. I take anything thats not glued down from wherever i work 😂😂… 650’s on cinders but the black paint hides that also.

I do enjoy havin a little fish protege now, hes just gettin old enough to be a “helper”. We rebuilt an air pump and drilled a 40 breeder the other day lol.

Lung is def. A fan favorite over here. Fills my need for a monster without too much of a food bill or space requirements. Heres a bit of “scale” on the lung 😂… i need to do a mfk OG pic with a sunken 2 liter bottle one of these days.

Oh heeeelll yeah. Best looking cinder block stand yet, total crowd-pleaser you. Must be one of those "show" tanks im always reading about lol. Look at all them reinforcing rods and weld on 40...hold the tank together sure but maybe also keep that monster from breaking out if it gets any bigger😁

Drilling tanks already? Man he's got like a 25 year head start on me. At this pace he's gonna eclipse my gallonage with his own fishroom soon. You're gonna pop your head in his room one day and find hes looted your backyard material stash, DIYed a bunch of tanks, and keeping a catfish bigger than him lol :headbang2

Knock on wood for me with the 450 💀… its held together with hopes and dreams 😂… theres so much weld on 40 on it inside and out its glued to the stand in a cple spots lol. The lung is placed there intentionally in case she blows 😬. And too funny my man. I will gladly support the offspring filling the house up with water as he wishes. Worried ill come home one day to a drained tank tho 😂🤞

Lovely! Yeah bichir growth in general def is abnormal. I know Joe, Hao, and many other bichir keepers (myself included) prefer big percentage 75 percent + water changes for growth. My guess is large water changes are best for "removing" nitrates and growth inhibiting hormones as opposed to continuously diluting it so maybe worth a shot? Regardless awesome stuff. Nice selection of WC bichirs :)

Maybe something to the large hormone dump like ur saying. Im open to ideas. Im changing around 120% a week through the auto drip. Been debating bumping it up a bit. I dripped alot more when keeping rays in the same tank. Have u guys ever tried mazuri tabs? They contain iodine like with live food. Downside is the short shelf life. Used to use it for marine sharks.

Never knew you kept saltwater. What species of shark did you have?
I've kept Bamboo and the Marbled catshark.

Ill have to do some TBT pics…i do miss my salty days. I tore down my salt tanks when i discovered autodrip for fresh. Never did a waterchange again lol… I had 7-8 salt tanks up at one point in time everything from fish only to reef. I worked for a big coral importer also. Did a few of the trade shows around the US like macna and reefapalooza.

I had a pair of atelomycterus marmoratus. coral cat sharks in a 197 then a 500. Theres a thread on here somewhere with them. I still keep an “emergency” salt kit on hand in case i ever catch the bug again 😂… have a 50g cube, euroreef skimmer, good lights and a box of salt ready to go when the day comes lol… prob miss the fish more than coral tho. Triggers and groupers were my favorite.

tlindsey tlindsey … trip down memory lane… look who i found in the thread 😂🤙… 2013.. man, i really miss some of the setups i had over the years.
