Posted this in my bonanza thread, but shows really well the wels so going here also. This video started out because I caught the wels getting beat up by my granulated catfish. He keeps trying to steal the bacu's hiding spot. The bacu will have none of it though lol. Surprisingly aggressive for a doradid. You can see damage on the side of the wels as well as on the fins. He of course cannot do very much damage to the bacu because it is armored.

hmmm, wels continues to get beat on a bit by my granulated catfish......dilema. I might try getting a pot to put in and see if the wels takes to it.

Id say its only a matter of time before that wells turns on the granny...good thing hes armor plated lol...no room for the granny in ur bed pond? If all else fails you can scab in a 20long or rubbermaid onto one of ur tanks for him.

lol, well there seems to be peace for now. The granulosus has asserted himself well and the wels has been staying in his corner. When the wels tries to retaliate the granny cat flexes out all it's spines into the driftwood and is unmovable. After the wels tries pushing, as he has learned biting does no good on this one, the granny cat bites his fins and he swims away like a dog with it's tail between it's legs lol. Still no aggression at all towards the vulture, or raphael cats. I do not think the wels has grown longer yet, but definitely fatter. lol. When I get my studio lights I will try to get some good pics. They seem to behave for the most part. Just seems silly to see a doradid that has any kind of aggression. He really just won't give up his spot. I will need to move the sperata into this tank soon. Hopefully there will not be another clash. I am taking steps this time to try and prevent it. I will be putting some pots in that hopefully will provide more hiding spots for the cats and less tension.

more videos!

lol, well you might have to wait til tomorrow for that. I am not feeding the 100 gal tonight so that I can try to capture hand feeding on cam. I tried the other day, but he just swam away and hid.

can't wait! I fed my wels daily as it had a voracious appetite in warm 80 degree water haha
